Who is Hayden and why is he happy?

I am a 24-year-old Environmental Educator in Delmar, New York. I created this blog to share updates about my bike ride across America (see below). I’m continuing to post about — mostly — unrelated stuff because its fun and people seem to like it! Happiness can be elusive for many of us but it can always be pursued. I don’t always do the best job pursuing it — in fact, a lot of the time I do a pretty bad job — but I know it is there to be enjoyed. This theme can be seen in much of my writing as I like to talk about my values and how I live up to them.

Below is the original description I wrote for Team Tahoe:

Team Tahoe is the 2023 4K For Cancer team! Every year, the Ulman Foundation finds some crazy young adults to commit to fundraising $5,000+ for young adults, and their families, impacted by cancer AND cycle or run across the country to connect with the wonderful people of America.

This year our journey begins in Baltimore on June 4th (runners leave on June 24th) and concludes in San Francisco on August 12th. Cyclists will cover anywhere from 50 - 120 miles each day while runners will run up to 16 miles. Each night we will rely on the kindness of friends, families, and strangers for a place to sleep. We’ll also be counting on food donations to keep us going.

If you hadn’t already guessed, one of the landmarks we will pass is Lake Tahoe in California! On August 2nd we’ll arrive in South Lake Tahoe and hang out for a rest day/service day — on some of our 10 rest days, we will go into the local community to help out with whatever might be needed. Some other notable landmarks include Chicago, Estes Park, and Bryce Canyon! You can check out the 14 riders and 9 runners on Team Tahoe here.

If 4K For Cancer sounds like something you want to do, get in touch with an Ulman staff member here.

Follow our journey!

We really appreciate your support and want as much of it as possible!! The least we can do in return is share the highs and lows of our travels with you. Subscribe below and you won’t miss anything. I cycled from Baltimore to San Francisco for the Ulman Foundation and young adults with cancer in 2023! Now I'm striving to do as much good as I can :)
